Class
Enrollment and Verification
Enrollment is by pre-registration. Students are accepted after the
beginning of a semester on a space-available basis, and providing
their previous training enables then to join an existing class.
Please register early to guarantee entry. Class size is limited.
To enroll fill out a registration application form enclosed and
return by mail or in-person during office hours. Registration Fee
and tuition payment must be made with application (which ensures
the space in class). When we receive your form and payment, you
will be immediately enrolled. If you want further verification of
registration, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope
with your registration. Please note that students at or above the
preballet level must be enrolled in both the Winter and Spring semesters
in order to participate in the spring performance.
Class
Placement/Evaluation Class
Placement is established first according to age and secondly, based
upon performance during the first week of classes. Each student
is evaluated and promoted individually based on age, ability, attendance,
experience and work habits. A student wishing to attend the academic
program (coming from another school) must attend an evaluation class
for proper placement. This class must be scheduled in advance with
the school office. An evaluation class is free of charge. A student’s
evaluation may be discussed with the instructor by scheduling a
time to meet in person or by phone. Call the school office to schedule
an appointment, 410-877-3281.
Tuition,
Registration & Late Fees
ALL TUITION is due in full by the first day of each session. A late
tuition fee of $20.00 will be charged if payment is submitted following
the start of a session (Exception: Only balances over $300 may be
handled by the following payment option; 50% deposit by the first
day of class and 25% at the end of the first 30 days, followed y
the remaining 25% at the end of 60 days. A non-refundable annual
registration fee of $10 per family is required. A 10% discount on
tuition of a second or more family member(s) (lesser tuition total)
is available. Tuition refunds are not available after the first
class of a session/workshop/camp has begun. A $20 charge is placed
on all returned checks. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Late fees are charged for costume orders not turned in by the designated
deadline (and for private lesson students that do not give 24-hour
notice of cancellation. Private Lesson: $45. Costume per each $20).
Inclement
Weather
For weather concerns please call the school, 410-877-3281. The recorded
announcement is changed at least one hour before class cancellations.
DCM does not follow the local public school system. No tuition reductions
and no scheduled make-ups. Students have the option to make-up on
their own in another class approved by the director.
Observation
of Classes
It is our experience that both students and teachers work more efficiently
together when parents/visitors are not in the studio. We do schedule
designated Observation Days/Studio Performances for visitors (see
the session schedule for specific dates). For Creative Movement
students, our studio space is designated for parents to observe
classes from afar regularly without disturbing the flow of the class.
Attendance,
Preparation and Behavior Code
Consistent attendance is expected and is critical to the student’s
progress. Missed lessons must be made up in a comparable class with
the permission of the instructor. All missed lessons must be made
up within the session (no carry over). Students should arrive 15
minutes early to get dressed, warm-up and use the restroom. Students
are expected to wait outside the classroom until their scheduled
class time. GROSS MISCONDUCT: Any student or parent who verbally
or physically abuses anyone, verbally defies any faculty or staff
member, commits any unlawful action or commits any other action
deemed by DCM to be grossly inappropriate will be dismissed immediately.
There will be no refunds.
School Policies
No gum, food
or soft drinks permitted in the studios.
