Official School of the Harford Ballet Company

Prospective Students

Dear Dancer,Chris and Juliet

Welcome to the Dance Conservatory of Maryland and thank you for visiting our newly re-designed website. The Dance Conservatory of Maryland is still accepting registrations for Fall 2011.

Young students with no previous dance training should visit our class programs page to see which classes are appropriate for their age and experience level. Students ages six and older who are new to the Dance Conservatory of Maryland and who have previous dance training should contact the office to schedule an appointment to determine the correct class placement. All new students are encouraged to attend a placement class free of charge. This gives our faculty a chance to observe new students and ensure they are placed in the correct class, and it also gives new parents and students a chance to visit the school, meet our faculty and staff and see what sets the Dance Conservatory of Maryland apart from other dance schools in the area.

DCM is located just south of Bel Air on the picturesque Millstad property. The DCM campus offers a friendly and positive environment free of distractions and optimal for learning. DCM is the official school of the Harford Ballet Company, the only professional ballet company in the Northern Maryland region. Students at DCM are offered the unique opportunity of participating in a professional dance performance rather than a school recital each year. Classes perform age appropriate material showcasing their skills and technique and are integrated into a full length story ballet where students participate on stage with professional dancers and guest artists from such reputable companies as Washington Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet and the New York City Ballet.

Pam TeachingAll classes at the Dance Conservatory of Maryland are taught by expert faculty members and guest teachers who have performed professionally and hold degrees in dance from excellent universities. DCM class syllabi are crafted to offer the highest quality of professional dance training to students in both the recreational and academic programs. Classes are offered in classical and contemporary dance forms for all ages and levels of interest.

At the Dance Conservatory of Maryland, we take pride in our training philosophy that encompasses a 'whole-student' approach designed to:

• Promote the highest standards of classroom behavior.
• Assist students’ discovery of their strengths and challenges.
• Provide professional performance opportunities through Harford Ballet Company (HBC), a non-profit ballet company.
• Create a nurturing and professional atmosphere which supports leadership, mentorship and friendships.

It is our unique blend of people, passion and performance that allows dreams to become reality. Our desire is to help you reach your goals and awaken the great talents that may be hiding within! If you are interested in taking advantage of the many opportunities that the Dance Conservatory of Maryland has to offer, please feel free to call us at 410-877-3281 or contact us using our online form.
